This brief examines the establishment of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in 2014, in order to transform the armed secessionist group into a legitimate and legal political actor in the Philippines. The author provides context for the party’s establishment as well as its likely composition, agenda, and leadership.
