This paper explores existing statistical data on involuntary loss of nationality in the EU. The authors first identify challenges to the existing methods of data collection and data interpretation in this area and then introduce an online statistical database that brings together all existing statistical data on loss of nationality in the EU. This data is then summarized and used to outline possible trends in the loss of nationality in EU member states. The authors also provide recommendations for policymakers in the EU on how to improve data collection in this area.
