This commentary examines how China is asserting its economic power in the Asia Pacific region in 2014. The author also examines the dilemma this poses for ASEAN as the organization seeks closer economic cooperation with China, while at the same time remaining wary of the increasing security threat Beijing could pose as its power grows.
