This commentary examines the main takeaways of the two speeches made by US President Barack Obama in Australia (2011 and 2014) on the US' strategic pivot to the Asia Pacific region. In particular, the author discusses the progress made in the rebalance policy, the consistency of the two speeches and the Obama administration's commitment to the policy.
