This paper examines the positive and negative results of remittances on Moroccan development, as well as of other migration-driven social changes. It offers a brief historical background to Moroccan migration and examines Moroccan emigration to the EU since the early 1960s. The paper discusses specific remittance practices and analyzes the prospects for return migration to Morocco.
