This commentary examines the reasons for the Republican Party's success in the US 2014 mid-term elections. The author argues that the success was driven by a number of factors including the state of the economy, governance, foreign policy decisions, and President Obama's unpopularity. She also discusses how this result could affect the remainder of Obama's tenure in office.
