This paper examines the state of democracy in the Arab world, from Marrakesh to Cairo and from Ramallah to Riyadh. The author considers the various Arab debates on democracy and democratization in Northern Africa and the Middle East before going on to discuss the role and policies of the US in promoting democracy in these regions.
