This monograph provides an overview of hydrocarbon discoveries in the Eastern Mediterranean and the significance of these for the region’s resource holders. The authors also explore 1) the possible implications of these resources for the region’s security landscape and their potential to fuel conflict; 2) what options there are to foster closer regional cooperation and trade integration in the region; and 3) the role US diplomacy and military support could play to ensure continued stability, security, and support in the East Mediterranean region.
