This paper looks at whether the EU integration model could also be applied to the Gulf region. The authors argue that despite the crisis affecting Europe at the institutional, economic, political and foreign policy level, the EU integration model continues to be relevant to the Gulf states. They then provide seven recommendations on how the Gulf states can learn from the experiences of the EU in regional integration.
