This brief sets out a series of recommendations for the Indian government on how it can address the development problems which are evident in the northeast of the country. This includes 1) controlling the insurgency involving multiple armed factions in the region; 2) improving infrastructure and connectivity between the district headquarters and the remote areas in the northeastern states; 3) addressing the rising problem of unemployment and livelihood options; and 4) developing the region's hydropower potential.
