This paper uses the US Military Academy at West Point to examine the US military’s program on Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP). The authors provide a general framework and principles on SHARP, arguing that commanders and leaders in the army must set the conditions within the units for the soldiers or cadets to feel they are valued, treated with dignity and respect, and are physically and emotionally secure.
