This issue of the African Journal on Conflict Resolution focuses specifically on conflict-resolution and peacebuilding in South Africa. It includes articles on 1) the potential link between poverty and violence in South Africa; and 2) public participation in conflict resolution in the country, especially at the local level. It also features various tributes to H W van der Merwe, who was an important pioneer of conflict resolution in South Africa.
