This paper provides an overview of the military action of the US, the UK and their allies against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). More specifically, the authors examine 1) the US military assets involved in the operations against ISIS and the other countries involved in military strikes; 2) the extent of British military participation against ISIS; 3) the military capabilities of ISIS; and 4) how the US, the UK and its allies view the possibility of fighting ISIS with ground forces.
