This note discusses the 20th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which took place in December 2014 in Lima. The author includes 1) a brief background on the UNFCC; 2) a short examination of previous conferences, most notably the 2013 Warsaw Conference; and 3) an overview of the run-up procedure to the Lima conference, including the UK, India and EU positions as well as the November 2014 G20 Conference and the Joint US-China announcement on climate change.
