This paper provides an overview of the events which have shaped relations between the UK and Bahrain in 2014. These include 1) British arms exports to Bahrain; 2) the security relationship with Bahrain, including the leasing to the UK of a naval base on the Persian Gulf 3) Bahrain’s human rights policy and democratic deficit; and 4) the controversial visit of Prince Nasser bin Hamad to the UK.
