This paper discusses the state of insurgency in Northeast India and provides a forecast on what factors could have an impact on peace initiatives and the activities of insurgent groups in the region in 2015. Among other issues, the author examines 1) Indian government policy on how to deal with insurgency in northeast India, including its counterinsurgency operations and peace talks; 2) ethnic conflicts in the region; 3) the activities of Maoist groups in the region; and 4) the spread of Islamist militancy.
