This report looks at South Africa’s role as a peacemaker on the African continent between 1996 and 2013, with a particular emphasis on the country's activities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). In general, the report's authors contend that Pretoria has played a unique and important role as a peacemaker, particularly when working with the South African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union (AU).
