This monograph examines the terrorist organizations operating in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula and the extent to which the Egyptian public supports their government’s crackdown on the groups. As part of its analysis, the monograph 1) explores Egyptian attitudes toward the Bedouin inhabitants of the Sinai; 2) considers how instability in the Gaza Strip and the conflict between Israel and Hamas have shaped Egyptian attitudes toward security; and 3) identifies the options Egypt and the US might pursue in dealing with the Sinai terrorism problem.
