This commentary discusses the reasons for the rise of the left-wing Podemos party in Spain, its main policies and the impact it could have on Spanish and European politics. The author argues that while the party offers an alternative to the other left-wing parties in Spain, it does not offer realistic solutions on foreign and European policy issues. This makes it unlikely that Podemos will beat the ruling conservative party.
