This paper discusses the development of the African freight transport system using the example of Kenya. The paper examines how the logistics revolution that changed transport in the industrialized and industrializing world in the early 1970s finally reached Africa more than two decades later, and explores its impact on the integration of transportation processes into industrial production cycles. The authors also examine what impact the liberalization, deregulation, and privatization of business and trade have had on Kenya's transport system.
