This policy brief examines the integrity of Kenya's electoral process during its 2013 general elections as well as the extent of voter confidence in the electoral system in the country. In particular, the authors discuss 1) the results and context of the 2013 elections; 2) the management of the elections; 3) the extent of commitment to democracy and peaceful elections in the country; 4) voter experience of the elections and perceptions of electoral integrity; 5) voter trust in electoral actors; and 6) the role of international observers in the elections. They also provide recommendations on how Kenya can improve the integrity of its elections and public confidence in its electoral system.
