This policy note examines the potential benefits and concerns over the use of genetically modified (GM) crops to solve food security and related problems in developing countries, with a particular focus on Africa. The author also looks at whether such countries should wait for research to answer the questions regarding the potential risks of GM crops or move to take advantage of the potential benefits such crops could bring their populations.
