This brief examines the framework the African Union (AU) has adopted to deal with terrorism. The author argues that the framework is fairly progressive and that it is pushing states to coordinate their responses. However, he also suggests that there are limitations to the framework, especially in terms of its implementation, with some states being reluctant to adopt the policy. He also provides recommendations for the AU on what it can do to enhance its counter-terrorism framework.
