This issue of the Sentinel features articles on 1) how IS is developing relationships with other groups and individuals that have expressed interest in being a part of its “caliphate”; 2) the network of actors who support the IS in Khorasan in Afghanistan and Pakistan; 3) the Sinai-based group Jama‘at Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis as well as its links to Gaza and IS; 4) the meaning of the 'bay`a' in North Africa and what this demonstrates about pledges of allegiance to IS in the region; 5) the evolution of the Nigeria-based terrorist group Boko Haram and its pledge of loyalty to the leader of IS; and 6) the nature of cooperation between militant organizations.
