This brief discusses ASEAN integration and community building in the 21st century. The author contends that ASEAN should rid itself of the unrealistic ambition of becoming a single community in the near future and rather focus its limited resources on facilitating bilateral and multilateral cooperation among member states, and strengthening the diplomatic voice of ASEAN countries.
