This paper addresses the problem of how the Colombian government can reintegrate rank-and-file Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and the Colombian (FARC) members following its negotiations with the FARC. In particular, the author analyzes what the government can learn from the implementation of Law no 1424, which it passed in 2010 as a complement to the transitional justice package offered to right-wing paramilitaries. In order to do so, she explains the genesis and the main features of the 1424 model as well as challenges it faced. Finally, she discusses the lessons the government can draw for its negotiations with the FARC.
