This paper examines the threat that China poses to US interests and what form of grand strategy Washington should adopt toward Beijing to deal with this threat. The authors contend that US efforts to integrate China into the international order have generated new threats to US primacy in Asia and the world. They recommend that the US should instead adopt a strategy that moves away from assisting China's ascendancy and towards one that limits the dangers that China's geoeconomic and military power poses to US national interests while also ensuring the maintenance of diplomatic and economic interactions with Beijing.
