In light of Saudi Arabia's 2015 intervention in Yemen, this paper discusses how the country's foreign policy has been driven by perceptions of threats to the kingdom's legitimacy from other countries and actors in the region. The author points out that Saudi Arabia's attempts to deal with this perceived threat have been largely unsuccessful and that the country will need to brace for a period of heightened regional insecurity in the future.
