This paper looks at how different international initiatives have fared with encouraging the diversification of exports from sub-Saharan countries and improving their integration into the global economy. The author also examines how the implementation of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and the EU's Economic Partnership Agreements with regional organizations in Africa could affect such initiatives.
