This bulletin discusses Slovakia’s relations with Russia as well as how they are informed by Bratislava’s dependency on energy supplies from Moscow. More specifically, the authors focus on a paradox that they contend exists in Slovakia's policy towards Russia, with the country on the one hand making overt pro-Russian gestures and declarations and on the other reducing its energy dependence on Moscow and maintaining its role as a critical partner for Kyiv in the international arena.
