This report uses evidence drawn from open sources to argue that there is irrefutable evidence that the Russian military was directly involved in the separatist conflict in Eastern Ukraine in 2014. The evidence includes 1) open source satellite imagery which shows troop movements and scorch marks leftover from artillery barrages from Russia into Ukrainian territory; 2) photographs posted by Russian servicemen on social media platforms; and 3) modern Russian military equipment photographed with separatist forces in Eastern Ukraine.
