This paper provides an overview of the Rohingya ethnic Muslim minority group, who live primarily in Myanmar, as well as some context around the migration crisis face. More specifically, the author discusses 1) the history, religion, language and ethnicity of the Rohingya's; 2) the Rohingya's legal status in Myanmar; 3) why the Rohingya are fleeing Myanmar and where they are heading to; and 4) the role ASEAN and international actors have in resolving the migration crisis.
