This brief uses conflict data collected since WWII to determine whether Muslim countries are more war-prone than others. The brief's authors conclude that even though Muslim countries have been involved in a large share of the civil wars that have occurred since the end of the Cold War, their absolute number has not increased since the end of WWII. In other words, the seeming post-Cold War spike in Muslim state violence is actually attributable to the decline of other forms of conflict.
