This brief assesses UN peacekeeping operations and argues that that such operations are effective at reducing violence in conflicts as well preventing wars from re-erupting or spreading. The author also suggests that a large UN peacekeeping budget is money well spent and that an ambitious peacekeeping policy at the UN could significantly reduce conflict worldwide.
