This paper provides an overview of a workshop on emerging issues in international trade and investment law and how to develop a more detailed research agenda in this area. More specifically, the issues covered included the benefits of plurilateral versus multilateral trade agreements; trade subsidies; how to improve the processes involved in investor-state dispute settlements; and investor-state arbitration between developed economies.
