This report discusses the risks and opportunities of using political incentives as a way to curb both conventional and "non-conventional" armed conflicts. More specifically, the report's authors first introduce the concept of political (re)conversion and outline how it can be used as a peacebuilding and negotiating tool in conventional disputes. They then look at how this approach can also be applied to “non-conventional” violent groups, such as organized crime networks and youth gangs. Finally, the authors discuss the policy implications of the report's findings for states and international actors.
