This paper examines the Tunisian coalition government which came to power in February 2015 and contends that the most pressing challenges it faces include the extent of economic inequality and growing insecurity in the country. The authors argue that the level of democracy in the country could help restore stability, but that democracy alone will not resolve the problem. Indeed, they suggest the country also needs a strategic plan, the building of a consensus among its population and assistance from the international community to tackle the issue. They also provide recommendations for Tunisia's government and the US on how to deal with these issues, and conclude by suggesting that Tunisia could serve as a long-term partner for those in the international community looking to stabilize its region.
