This paper provides an overview of a workshop on emerging issues in international trade and investment law, and how to develop a more detailed research agenda in this area. Some of the key topics covered at the workshop included the benefits of plurilateral versus multilateral trade agreements; trade subsidies; improving processes in investor-state dispute settlement; and investor-state arbitration between developed economies.
