In this testimony before the US Congress, Rock Creek Global Advisers Vice President Clay Lowery describes 1) the core functions of the IMF, 2) the reform package negotiated by IMF members in 2010, and 3) why he thinks Congress should approve legislation to implement this package. The speaker argues that there are many economic and financial reasons for the US to support the IMF including the fact that the organization provides global financial stability and serves as a key foreign policy tool for the US. He concludes by pointing out the need for continued US leadership to help the IMF reform and evolve and by asking Congress and President Obama's administration to demonstrate this leadership.
