This report examines the Colombian government's plans to further the development of marginalized regions as a way to promote lasting peace in the country following a deal with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). More specifically, the author 1) discusses the conditions that are needed for the implementation and success of these plans; 2) examines past approaches to peacebuilding in the country as well as how various constituencies in the country view the government's plans and are preparing for their implementation; and 3) outlines the main challenges facing the peace process and the potential success of the government's plans.
