This paper examines the roles parliaments play in the security strategies of the Nordic countries. The paper’s author first clarifies the Nordic concept of security, which does indeed encompass health, food and energy issues as well as more traditional concerns. She then provides contextual data on Nordic parliamentary systems, security environments and security policies. Finally, and based on her analysis, the author concludes that there is no specifically Nordic model of national security, nor is there one for how parliaments in these countries develop their security policies.
