This paper focuses on the local and regional roles being played by Kurdish political organizations in Turkey, Syria and Iraq. Among other issues, the paper's author focuses on 1) Turkey's policy towards the Kurdish Regional Government in Iraq; 2) the part being played by Syria's Democratic Union Party (PYD) in the country's civil war; 3) Turkey's peace negotiations with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK); 4) the success of the Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in recent Turkish elections; 5) what roles the Kurds could play in the future of the Middle East; and 6) what policies Europe should adopt towards the above actors.
