This paper discusses the implications of, and reasons for, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s decision to include several foreign nationals to join his government in December 2014. More specifically, the author 1) outlines that key reasons for the inclusion of foreign nationals in the government to help further reforms, tackle corruption and improve confidence in the state among Ukrainians; 2) addresses public opinion towards Poroshenko’s decision: 3) looks at the individual foreign nationals in the government, their areas of responsibility, the main challenges they face and their initiatives so far; 4) examines the reason why the largest number of foreign officials come from Georgia; and 5) analyzes whether the foreign officials will be able to help reform Ukraine.
