This paper examines the political situation in Sudan under President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir, who has held power since 1993. In particular, the author discusses 1) Al-Bashir's re-election in April, 2015; 2) the problems which have marred the president's attempts at forming a national dialogue encompassing all political actors, including the political opposition and armed rebel groups; 3) the economic and security challenges that face the president following his election; and 4) UN sanctions against the country.
