In this interview, John Hobson deplores what he sees as the Western bias in international relations studies, the problems created by this bias, and how the latter should be addressed. Hobson also focuses on 1) the significance of the Western origins of international relations theory; 2) the arguable belief that the West is THE source of globalization and innovation; 3) his work on combining historical sociology with international relations; and 4) the need to think harder about the interconnections between the West and ‘non-West’.
