This bulletin discusses how the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary reacted to the crisis caused by the large numbers of refugees attempting to enter the EU in 2015. The author explains that these countries put up a united front in rejecting the possibility of a quota mechanism to relocate refugees and demanding that the EU's external borders be sealed. He concludes that this reaction could lead to a cooling of relations with Germany, and the EU in general, and as well as the rise of radical nationalist sentiments within their borders.
