This commentary discusses the development of the "refugee" problem in Germany in 2015. The authors argue that growing influx of refugees into Europe was long ignored by Angela Merkal who was more preoccupied with negotiations between Greece and its creditors. As a result, neither the ruling German coalition nor the opposition parties now has a consistent idea of how Germany should react to the growing number of refugees within and outside its borders. Additionally, the authors criticize that the proposed solutions have not been properly thought through, which is why they are often contradictory.
