This brief discusses the possibility of political reconciliation between Saudi Arabia and Iran, primarily through previously unexplored energy cooperation. To support his argument, the author first presents a brief history of Saudi-Iranian relations, their recent areas of contention (especially in the energy sector), the impediments posed by the Sunni-Shia divide, and how natural gas cooperation could help surmount the previously highlighted problems.
