This commentary analyzes Ukrainian migration flows before and after the country started to unravel in 2014. The text’s author concludes that in 2014 the number of Ukrainians who migrated to Russia was not matched by those who went to EU countries (excluding Poland). Then, in 2015 a more rapid surge of Ukrainians did go to the EU, again mainly to Poland. Well, was this reversal attributable to concurrent Russian aggression or not? The answer is no. Economic incentives continue to be the spur to migration from this country.
