This paper discusses how the ouster of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi in July 2013 led to the fragmentation of the country's Islamist groups and made their current struggles with the Egyptian state that more dangerous. Most disturbing is that the pro-Muslim Brotherhood, non-jihadi groups created by Egyptian youths could soon metastasize into an armed jihadi rebellion. Of course, to prevent that from happening both the government and the Brotherhood will have to act.
